The Vision
In 2015, targeted sub-sectors such as dance, music, film, craft, fine arts will be important drivers of the provincial economy and will display the following characteristics:

A strong design identity and the pervasive influence of quality design |

Thriving and fast-growing commercialized sub-sectors, particularly in music, film and performance entertainment

 |
Significant export earnings through Intellectual Property rights and performing abroad
|
| |
 |
A driver of new opportunities in tourism and clothing & textiles product and service offerings

The Target

 |
30 000 jobs will be facilitated in the industry |
Essential Strategy
| |
 |
Undertake research in sub-sectors with high potential to develop suitable strategies (musical theatre and opera, theatre, the visual arts, festivals & events, community arts, dance, design, fashion, architecture, publishing, heritage, language schools) |

 |
Establish a “Creative Industries Chamber (CIC)” to facilitate growth and increase participation
|
| |
 |
Facilitate the development of a Provincial 10-year implementation plan
|
Craft
The Vision
In 2015 the Western Cape Craft industry will be:

Comprised largely of commercially-orientated producers
|
| |

Strongly orientated to export opportunities
|

Focused on higher value and higher value-added products
|

Recognized by its excellent design by key import markets and a well-integrated value chain

A fully transformed industry and will be demographically representative in ownership, control and management of enterprises and employment at all levels in the industry

Essential Strategy
The Province will commission the Cape Craft & Design Institute (CCDI), as the primary delivery agent to act as a sector catalyst for growth and transformation by:
